Picamilone and it's place in the group of
well-known nootropic drugs

Abstract
Picamilone - N-nicotinoyl-GABA is a new vasoactive drug with nootropic
properties. It has anti-amnesic activity on two models of amnesia of passive
avoidance response, caused by maximum electro shock and scopolamine on mice.
Picamilone increases exploratory behavior in open field. In comparison with the known nootropic drugs,
picamilone produces a specific antiamnestic effecy in lower doses, than piracetam, etiracetam, aniracetam.
Effects of deanol, aceglumat, centrophenoxine, and picamilone, received in the same doses, are similar. But
picamilone is less potent than nicergoline.
